How to Duplicate and Re-post an Event on the Calendar

The calendar on Squarespace (at this time in 2023) does not allow you to post recurring events. If you wish to do so, then you must manually duplicate and re-post a particular event repeatedly to populate the calendar on the future weeks and/or months that you wish to. We would recommend setting aside a chunk of time on one day to manually populate the calendar in advance so it doesn’t become a task that consistently demands your time. Once you populate the calendar with the recurring events for the entire year, then you can focus on entering in new events in a timely manner so those in your community and beyond are informed.

Below is a step by step description of How to Duplicate and Re-post an Event on the Calendar.

1)

Go to ‘PAGES’, find your ‘CALENDAR’ in the navigation section, and click on it to open up the CALENDAR.

2)

Click on the ‘…’ button next to the event that you wish to duplicate and press the ‘DUPLICATE’ option.

3)

A copy of the event will show up in your navigation area. The title will have ‘(COPY)’ added in the title and the new entry will be set as a ‘DRAFT’.

Click on the ‘EDIT’ button in the upper left corner of the event screen to open up the event for editing.

4)

Delete the ‘(COPY)’ from the title.

Change or add in any necessary information
OR just leave it as is if this is a recurring event.

5)

If you wish to add in any information or photos, click on one of the ‘+’ icons (that come up when you hover over them in the middle of the screen) and choose what you want to add in.

Hover over ‘DONE’ in the upper left corner and ‘SAVE’ your work.

7)

The current duplicated event that you are working on will be notated as ‘DRAFT’. Click on ‘…’ button next to that entry and choose the ‘SETTINGS’ option.

8)

CONTENT SECTION:
Click on the ‘DATE AND TIME’ section.

9)

Choose the correct future Date of the event as well as the Event Start Time and Event End Time.

10)

Go to “Event URL” and change the ending to the title and the date of the event.

11)

Go to ‘STATUS’ and click on the arrow next to ‘DRAFT’
Click on the ‘PUBLISHED’ checkbox and set the date as today’s date (this will help you keep track of when you posted this event happening in the future)

To complete the publishing, press ‘SAVE’ in the upper left corner of the window. The entry on the events calendar has now been published and can be seen on the calendar live.
